1st Round Winter League, Reffolds Top Lake.
1st Bill Barker 35lbs 12ozs.
2nd Tony Aldworth 19lbs 04ozs
3rd Dave Beard 17lbs 13ozs

Sadly a low turn out for the first round but a terrific match with the first five all getting double figures. The wind made presentation difficult so who knows weights could have been close to some of those in summer matches.
It was really trying everything, fish were caught on maggots, corn, pellets and bread as soon as you stopped getting bites on one thing you changed to something else and away they went. Bill Barker fishing off peg 17, on the Oak Tree bank fishing close to the reeds on his left said that fishing double maggot caught him two tiny roach then a good carp in three put-ins. A good win by Bill nearly doubling the second placed weight of Tony Aldworth, Tony again using his full armoury of bait fishing to the left on peg 1.
Dave “Bozzy” Beard had a superbly conditioned common carp in his bag off peg 11 touching 8lbs at least.
First time Winter Leaguers John Oliver & Rodney Stoyle both scored well, Rodney fishing his full 16 metres to the island from peg 2.
No excuses for last place John Wood, fishing the lillies opposite peg 9, perhaps he badly underfed his swim on a day where fish were really feeding.
